George Osborne: Trident costs will be met by defence budget

George Osborne has delivered a rebuke to the defence secretary, Liam Fox, declaring that the costs of Britain's new Trident nuclear deterrent would come from the main defence budget.
"I have made it very clear that Trident renewal costs must be taken as part of the defence budget."His remarks will be seen as a reprimand for Fox, who has complained that the MoD was being asked to pay the £20bn costs of replacing Trident. If Trident is paid for by the MoD budget and there is expected spending cut from all government department. This will mean cutting the number of soldiers, sailors and RAF personnel.

Turkey must be welcome in EU, insists Cameron

David Cameron attacked opponents of Turkey joining the European Union as "prejudiced" as he promises to champion the country's membership application. The same Turkey In last 36 years as ethnically cleansed from their homes 200,000 Greek Cypriots, killed 6,500 of them, deployed 43,000 occupation troops, brought in 160,000 Turks to cement its occupation, destroyed churches, synagogues and cemeteries, while it continued to oppress and kill thousands of Kurds in Turkey. This will mean Britain being flooded with Turkish workers, all legal under EU rule.Mr Cameron next stop is India, where he is making deals with the Indian government to allow more Indians into this country. During the election Mr Cameron told us that his party would be tough on immigration and people voted for them on that ticket.

Reality Check

People should start understanding a few home truths. Labour bankrupt this country with boom and bust polices, bailing out the banks, invading Iraq and Afghanistan. Now the Con/Dem coalition government are hell bent on reducing the deficit with savage public spending cuts and job losses. Now if New Labour had listened to Plaid Cymru during their 13 years of government and scrapped the Barnett formula and then increased the finding due to Wales. If Plaid hadn’t listened to New Labour government, when they encouraged councils and charities to invest in Iceland banks. Every council, whatever colour got to save money and be more energy efficient. So get ready for cuts and more streetlights across Wales being turned off. Why is it down to Caerphilly council to fund the park and ride service? The Welsh Assembly want more people to use the trains and Arriva trains are the one getting the extra customers and making the extra profits. These should be paying the council for the car parks up keep and lighting.

Cameron on the Big Society

This will mean job losses to public sector worker, which will be replaced by volunteers.

We're Doomed

This Con/ Lib coalition government is cutting spending on the prison service, so more prisoners are being released on shorter sentences. They are cutting the police budgets, so there will be fewer police officers on our streets 24 hours. There is going to be raising unemployment due to job losses. All will result in rising crime from theft to murder and rape.

David Cameron faces fury over plans to raise bus pass age for pensioners

This is what will happen here in Wales if the Liberals or Conservatives gain government in the Welsh Assembly.

Ex-Labour MP John Hutton to get over £300 a day to cut pensions

Ex-Labour MP John Hutton will get more than £300 a day to help slash public sector pensions.
The former Cabinet minister sparked fury by agreeing to head Chancellor George Osborne's review that will cut the pay or pensions of millions.
The ex-Defence Secretary, now Lord Hutton of Furness, only works three days a week for the fat salary that will disgust teachers, nurses and other hard-working government staff. Dave Prentis, leader of the Unison union, said: "Britain's public sector workers will be angry Hutton, with his plump MPs' pension, is getting paid so much to lead an attack on pensions." As chair of the Pensions Commission, during the expected ninemonth job he will earn £36,000, or £307 a day - plus travel and costs.
He will still claim a taxpayer-funded "gold plated" MPs' pension and a "golden goodbye" of up to £64,000 for quitting the House of Commons as an MP.
Labour MP John Mann said: "This is an insult to retired people struggling to get by across the country."

Internal Politics What a Dirty Business

“Your enemies are the people who sit behind you. Those in front are merely your opponents.” Never was the old saying about the nature of politics truer than in the case of New Labour. Under Tony Blair and his spin twins Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell, both have recently wrote books cashing in on the death of New Labour. The practice of smearing one’s own side was developed into a fine art. This happens when individuals of a political party put their interests before their party, party members and the people who believed in the policies.

Spin Doctors Double Under New Labour

Pretty much as soon as New Labour got into power it started undermining the impartiality of the Civil Service and diverting government funds to special advisers who were essentially Labour stooges paid by the taxpayer. The number of special advisors had risen from 38 to 81.One of the scandals of the whole special advisor system is that they are allowed to bunk off at election time and work for their political master at taxpayers’ expense. When an advisor resign at election time are entitled to three months to six months’ pay. After the election they can pick up where they left off. Their volunteering is paid by the taxpayer.

The Union Modernisation Fund

During 2005 New Labour was facing a fairly serious funding crisis. Thanks to this crisis it is dependent upon the generous support of the unions. Unfortunately the unions aren’t rolling in cash either. Their membership has been in decline for some time as more and more union members lose their jobs due to tough new union laws introduced by the Tories in the 1980’s. It is at precisely that moment the union modernisation fund started. A vehicle for the new Labour government to give £10 million of taxpayers money to the unions over three years is created.

Marxist Milibands?

We all know that New Labour doesn’t really approve of offshore trusts and tax loopholes. Well, that’s their public position anyhow. The Chancellor of the Exchequer has been careful in closing inheritance loopholes, ably assisted by his policy assistant Ed Miliband brother of David and New Labour leader candidates. Now Ed and David’s father Ralph Miliband, the Marxist historian and uber-leftie died in 1994 having transferred almost all his assets, including homes in London and Oxfordshire, to his wife. Strangely, the family posthumously rewrote his will to give the two MP brothers a 20% share of the family home in London, having been advised to do so by tax accountants. David first declared a “20% share of the family home in London” on the MPs’ Register of Interests in 2002, although it has curiously disappeared from the latest version. Ed Miliband has never registered. This scheme is called a “deed of variation” and was highlighted by Gordon Brown in opposition as an unacceptable way in which the wealthy avoid paying death duties. It allows people to inherit assets tax-free even if this goes against the wishes of the deceased. Thanks Ed Balls for the info.

Ron for Caerphilly and give Jeff his P45

With Ron Davies being the only candidate for the Caerphilly assembly seat. I’m might be a bit confused on the ballot paper, do I vote for Ron or RON (Re Open Nominations).

Joint Strike Fighter: Jet that's a 'spy in the sky'

The last Labour government committed to buying 150 new jet fighters at the cost of £70m for each fighter. As the most expensive defence project ever undertaken starts to come to fruition, an advanced fighter jet, the Joint Strike Fighter or F-35. Now this Tory/ Lib government could have stopped this waste of money and use the money to keep more police on the street, nurses in hospitals or teachers in classrooms.

Lord Mandelson's Memoirs

The father of New Labour and former Labour leader Lord Kinnock has criticised Lord Mandelson's memoirs, claiming the ex-business secretary has become a "caricature" of himself. Lord Mandelson's book describes feuding between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, alleging Mr Blair called his successor "mad, bad and dangerous". Lord Kinnock said it focused too much on a "pathetic personality clash" between the Brown and Blair camps, that right Mr Kinnock New Labour are pathetic. Now all the New Labour leaders candidates all trying to distance themselves from New Labour ideas and policies. I can’t wait for Gordon Brown and Tony Blair to write their books.

Plaid was Right all a Long

With the latest news that schools and NHS in Wales has been underfunded compared with the schools and health service in England for the last six years. The Holtham commission has argued that the current Barnett formula, which leaves Wales underfunded by more than £300m a year. Both these reports show that Labour has done nothing in the last 13 years to readdress the funding gap in Wales. Is it because the Labour party in London was afraid of offending the Scottish Labour party? And handing complete power over to the SNP. Or was it because the then Labour power of Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are both Scottish MP and could lose their seats.

Still Mr Hain Peddles His Contradictions

Peter Hain MP spent the last 13 years blaming the Tories even policies his Labour government could have changed. Now the shadow Welsh Secretary has started blaming the fact that 900 wanted fugitives in Wales are on the run from police.
The fact almost all these criminals went on the run during his Labour party’s 13-year stint in government.

Restoration Project for Sir Terry

Sir Terry Matthews hopes to move a listed 400-year-old ruin next door to the Ryder Cup clubhouse were rejected by Newport planning councillors yesterday. I would have thought with Sir Terry business experience and media skills, he could have used this as a training venture. Where he could compile a group of building experts and get some young trainee builders to restore the old listed building. Even if he turned the inside into a banqueting hall, that would have been a talking point among the American tourist. Because American tourist don’t like old listed buildings being demolished.

Gwyn Price standing for Labour in Islwyn

The same Gwyn Price that lost his council seat at the last elections and once worked for Caerphilly council and nobody know why he finished.

Happy 25th Anniversary to My Wife Pauline 13/07/2010

To my wife Pauline thank you for 25 years of happy marriage. The road hasn’t always be easy, in fact sometimes its been rough has hell (not of our making) but we survived and it made us stronger. I would have loved to take you to New York as my gift to you and let you fly for the first time, when I find another job New York will be first on my things to do before I die.

Communities First

Child poverty
Child Poverty is a key theme within the Welsh Assembly Government’s Communities First Vision Framework. It includes issues around health and opportunities for children, freedom from abuse, victimisation and exploitation and promotes education, learning and play activities. This theme also promotes respect and recognition of race and cultural identity.
Health and Wellbeing
Identifying local health issues and their effect are central to the Health and Wellbeing theme. This includes identifying the least healthy and those at risk of poor health and provide a range of interventions including ‘healthy eating/ cooking; physical activity; smoking cessation/ alcohol awareness, mental health and sexual awareness’. Wider issues such as accessing services and identifying social and cultural determinants are also an important aspect of this theme. The Health and Wellbeing theme links closely with the Welsh Assembly Government’s Community Food Co-ops; it also promotes the arts, sport and cultural activities linked to physical fitness.
Jobs Business and Income Generation
Jobs, Business and Income Generation is one of the largest themes within the Vision Framework. It covers identification of the issues including barriers to employment; identifying employment opportunities and engaging the hard to reach groups. Partnerships will need to develop knowledge and expertise in intermediate labour markets ; targeted employment programmes and Basic Skills/ Key Skills and Personal Development. This theme also includes the social economy with the development of volunteering and social enterprises. Partnerships will have a key role linking with employers and private businesses and facilitating subsidised employment opportunities and modern apprenticeships
Education Training and Skills
The Education, training and skills theme covers a number of key sub themes around lifelong learning. Its focus is engaging hard to reach groups and identifying barriers to accessing education. As well as identifying skills gaps the theme includes opportunities to deliver a range of innovative projects to help all ages access education and training and provide the necessary support in order for them to do so.
Community Safety
The Community Safety theme deals with both crime and the impact of crime at a community level. Consultation and activities around tackling disorder and antisocial behaviour together with social housing and the role of social landlords are all key aspects of this theme. More practical elements such as supporting victims of crime, reducing crime and diverting individuals away from offending behaviour are all covered. So how does carnivals and out door cinema help with all the above?

“The Plaid Group is obsessed with savings”, said Labour’s deputy leader Keith Reynolds

“The Plaid Group is obsessed with savings”, said Labour’s deputy leader Keith Reynolds. The reason for that comment is the Plaid Caerphilly council group want to save the residents of Caerphilly borough between £500,000 and £750,000 over the next five years. By selecting a chief executive from within the authority, but Labour wants to advertise outside.
